Native Plant Preservation Plans (NPPP) aim to protect and promote the region's native plant species during the development process, which are vital for ecosystems health, biodiversity, and to preserving the area's unique natural character.
Most jurisdictions in Pima County have a Native Plant Preservation Ordinance (NPPO).
Each jurisdiction has its own unique code; Pima County, Tucson, Oro Valley, Sahuarita, Sierra Vista, Marana, and Nogales, all have different requirements and standards for how native plants are treated.
Our process starts with accurate maps and field work, including inventories of regulated, safeguarded, and protected species using field observations, Global Information Systems (GIS) technologies, and drone photography.
Field collected plant data, along with site and grading plans, are used to create Native Plant Preservation Plans that comply with the jurisdiction’s unique requirements.
